CroNoMar is an innovation company founded with the aim of identifying and realizing new business opportunities through projects together with Norwegian and Croatian partners. CroNoMar will support innovation in the maritime / marine sector by providing collaboration with globally oriented companies, associations, clusters, educational institutions, R&D sector, and individuals with knowledge and skills in this area. The objective is to create new business activities in Croatia like new products, new services, or new business –models or -processes in order to make new or existing companies more competitive, and to attract some of them to Sibenik.
CroNoMar, will:
- Stimulate and support new business ideas and commercial opportunities coming from individuals, companies, institutions, R & D institutions as technology push or market pull
- Develop quality ideas into new business prospects
- Create new business activities in Croatia based on such business prospects.
- Together with Croatian and/or Norwegian partners.
- The orientation towards marine/maritime sector will include ship design and building, marine engineering, marine equipment, shipping operations, fishery, aquaculture, oceanography, etc.
CroNoMar’s resources will have focus on commercial aspects of business development with functionalities like:
- Commercial expertise
- Knowledge, experience and references from business development
- Management of inventions and intellectual property rights
- Investment resources as active/competent owner in the high-risk start-up phase for new businesses
- Networking between new start-ups and existing Norwegian/Croatian companies
- Facilitating new start-up companies with management services during the start-up period
Hopefully some new start-up companies will take office together with well-established marine/maritime companies in the iNavis center in Sibenik.
CroNoMar is initially owned from Norway and sponsored by the Norwegian Government for 3 years. In a longer perspective the ambitions is to make CroNoMar a long-lasting business developer for expansion and further development of the maritime/marine sector in Croatia with Croatian part-owners and partners. CroNoMar is a Norwegian initiative as the Norwegian part of a joint innovation project with Croatian partners like former APIU and City of Sibenik. The integrated objective is to establish an innovative environment in Sibenik including CroNoMar and a physical innovation center in Sibenik – iNavis.
